About : Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina is to celebrate the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and is observed by the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is a public holiday held annually on March 1. The citizens of the Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina voted for independence on the referendum that was held between 29 February and March 1, 1992. On this day, all schools, colleges, and offices remain closed. Also, this day is only celebrated in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the Republika Srpska boycotts this day and celebrates their independence on 9 January.
