About : Independence Day is to observe the declaration of independence of Estonia from the Soviets which was followed by a war with the Soviets to maintain Estonian liberty. Then it ended on 2 February 1920 with the Tartu Peace Treaty which guaranteed Estonia's independence for all time. On this day various government events like flag hoisting and public speeches take place on this day. People also try to pay respect and honor the soldiers who fought for independence.
