About : Independence Day of Sri Lanka is commemorated for the country's political independence from British rule in 1948. As we all know many national struggles were made in the history of Sri Lanka. On Independence Day we celebrate as the remembrance for the grapple of independence. The main celebrations take place in Colombo, where the President raises the national flag and delivers a strapping speech that highlights the accomplishment of the government during the past year, elevates important problems and give a call for future enlargement. The President also pays tribute to the national heroes of Sri Lanka, observes two minutes of silence in their memory, challenges and vows to get rid of separatism.
